2. Robert2 McClelland (Robert John1) was born Abt. 1859, and died December 28, 1928 in Ballycultra, Holywood Parish, County Down, Nth Ireland. He married Margaret Sloan Abt. 1882, daughter of Ann.

Notes for Robert McClelland:
Death certificate states he died of laceration to the brain due to a compound fracture of the skull - caused by being accidentally hit by a freight train.

Margaret's mother, Ann, was present at the birth of Margaret's son John and has Ann's address listed on his birth certificate in 1885 as Ballyrobert, County Down. Believed to have been killed during an air raid in about 1940 at Walton-on-the-Mersey. Haven't been able a record of her death.

3. Robertina3 McClelland (Robert2, Robert John1) was born December 28, 1892 in Ballyrobert, Down County, Northern Ireland, and died 1976 in Tewksbury, Gloucestershire, England. She married Alfred Revell White, son of Benjamin White and Emily Clement. He was born October 16, 1892 in Bournemouth, Dorset, England, and died June 1948 in Hamworthy Poole, Dorset, England.

8. John3 McClelland (Robert2, Robert John1) was born April 6, 1885 in Belfast, Nth Ireland, and died July 1, 1960 in Concorde Repatriation Hospital, Sydney, NSW, Australia. He married Margaret Eileen McChesney November 6, 1912 in St Mary Magdalene Church, Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland. She was born June 17, 1889 in Gortmaconnell, Killesher Parish, Co. Fermanagh, Ireland, and died September 1, 1969 in Wooloongong, NSW, Australia.

Jack was listed as being a gardener when he enlisted in the Army in 1904. He joined the 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers 18 Jan 1904 ( service number: 8252) at the age of 18 years and 8 months. Stationed at Dublin in 1906 and later at Bordon. On 17 Jan 1911, Jack transfered to the Army Reserve and returned to civilian life initially as a gardener and living with his parents at Bridge Cottages, Craigavad, County Down. He then became a chauffer (1912) and was living at 29 Abbott St, Bel úfast at the time of his marriage to Margaret McChesney, Nov 1912. In Aug 1914 Jack was mobilised with the 1st Battn. Royal Irish Fusiliers ( 10th Infantry Brigade) for War in France during World Wor 1. During his time in France, 18 Nov 1915, Jack transferred to the Royal Army Service ( service number changed to M/39511) and served as a driver and was also qualified as a stretcher bearer.

Jack was decorated with:

1914 Star 13 May 1919
British War Medal and Victory Medal Aug 1919
